Article 89 - Processing for archiving
The legislature pays special attention to personal information that is collected for research, statistics or historical preservation purposes.
In general, everything must be done in order to apply all the requirements of the law in these cases, and in particular to ensure that as little information as possible is kept.
Also, if possible, additional controls such as information anonymization, encryption and proper security controls should be implemented.
At the same time, if the implementation of these controls causes significant harm to the purposes of collection and processing, the EU countries can enact laws that allow for relief.
It should be noted that the reliefs will be relevant to the said processing. Any other use is subject to strict laws.
